Chapter 2 - Medicine to Our Ears

lyreflute

I know a Speech Pathologist who once developed a program to help breastfeeding mothers and their babies to communicate! She let me try out her Neurofeedback machine, but I couldn't relax. It was too depressing, hearing instruments from various genocided indigenous cultures, mixed into a hodgepodge of perfection with digital glitches added in to illicit alpha-wave mindfulness. I thought: I can do better than this: I can make authentic errors!

1. Neurofeedback: A Symphony for the Mind

The Neurofeedback machine, an innovative technology that has shown promise in aiding various conditions. From seizure disorders to mood disorders and developmental delays, the versatility of neurofeedback opens doors to new possibilities.

2. 8-Dimensional Sound: A Digital Melody of Contemplation

8-Dimensional sound recording is a technique designed to induce deep relaxation.

3. The Healing Notes of the Flute: Music as Therapy

Can flute cure back pain, treat mood and sleep disorders, or even make people smarter and more connected?

4. Music as Medicine: A Symphony for Well-being

Scientific evidence supports the therapeutic benefits of music. From improving sleep quality among older adults to creating significant improvements in mental health, music therapy emerges as a potent tool for healing.

5. Songlines and Aboriginal Memory Techniques: An Ancient Harmony

The memory palace technique, rooted in ancient Greek and Jesuit traditions, finds a parallel in Aboriginal memory techniques. Aboriginal Creation myths emphasize the songlines – a living map that weaves through the continent, singing the world into existence. These ancient methods showcase the profound connection between memory, landscape, and sound.

As we navigate the symphony of healing sounds and melodies, let us marvel at the profound connection between music and well-being. Music, in its various forms, becomes a universal language that transcends boundaries, offering solace and healing to the human spirit.

Everything in its Right Place

In this track (a cover of a song by Radiohead), we come good on our endeavour to make authentic mistakes! The recording is from our first run-through in the chapel which, though not technically excellent, just sounds good. Maybe because I had just been inspired by a sound engineer and in a free impromptu seminar in 'Sound as an Orb' and where to place the microphones on the flute and piano.
